We are thrilled to announce a Summer Camp at Arclight Studio for children aged 8-12.  

We will have all of our usual activities; singing, dancing, art & craft, scriptwork, creative writing, improvisation, mime, movement, games and more!! 

The group size will be strictly limited to enable adequate distancing. 

There will be two camp sessions;

• Morning camp from 10am - 12.00pm 

• Afternoon Camp from 12.30 - 2.30pm

​

(A supervised walk to the local green can be arranged during lunchtime for anyone who would like to do the full day).

Cost is €70 per week for each two hour session and €3 per day extra if you would like to avail of the lunchtime supervision. Children must leave the premises from 12 - 12.30 to facilitate cleaning. 

Instead of a performance for an audience each group will make a video which will be sent to parents at the end of camp. 

Camp dates are: 

• July 27th - 31st

• August 10th - 14th.

Songwriters Summer Camp with Darragh Cullen

This is a fantastic camp for children & teens who love to sing and play music. Every child writes a song and gets to perform at a Zoom showcase at the end of the week. The course is suitable for age 9 - 15 and will run over Zoom from 11am-1pm  each day.

Hey everyone, we're missing you all terribly and hope you're all adapting to this unusual time.
To help with the downtime and to encourage creativity we have decided to run a writing competition for our students to give them something to work on.

There will be a poetry and a playwriting competition. You can send as many entries as you like.
Prizes will be awarded to the winning entries.

The closing date is Friday, March 27th.

It’s that time of the year again!! Arclight are about to ‘Set Sail’ with our annual panto. 

This year we are presenting "The Little Mermaid" - full of fishy fun!!

The Little Mermaid takes place in a magical kingdom under the sea where a beautiful young mermaid, named Ariel, longs to leave her ocean home to live in the human world above. But first she'll have to defy her father, the king of the sea, escape the clutches of an evil sea witch and convince a prince that she's the girl with the perfect voice.

It's a family friendly feast of fun, foolishness and fish!

What a wonderful weekend we had at the Stagecraft Youth Drama Festival.

Over 600 students taking part in 32 plays!

Thank you to all the young actors for sharing their talents with us. Thank you to the adjudicators for their words of wisdom. And thank you to all the audience for coming along to support. The festival is run completely voluntarily and we would like to thank Elaine, Ronan and Eve Cullen, Ray Cobban, Jeff Jones, Amie Cullinane, Amy Wyley, Ross Gallagher and Cillian O'Donnell for their invaluable help in ensuring the weekend ran so smoothly.

Our teenage group have been hard at work since September rehearsing ‘As You Like It’ by William Shakespeare. The play will be performed at The Whale Theatre in Greystones on Saturday 23rd March at 7.30pm, and on Sunday 24th March at 2pm & 6pm. Tickets are available now from www.whaletheatre.ie. Fantastic News! On 18th August, Ronan Cullen staged a fantastic production of his new play, ‘James & Me’ at the Dolmen Theatre, Cornelscourt.

We had the most wonderful time at our 'Shakespeare In A Week' Camp. In only 5 days the students put on a full production of Romeo and Juliet for an audience at the beautiful Temple Carrig Amphitheatre in Greystones. Well done to them all. It was a lovely evening.

Over the past few months we have been running a playwriting competition.
We had more than 30 entrants and the standard was exceptionally high and the judges had a very difficult job. Unfortunately we can only have one winner and we are delighted to announce that the winning submission is "Sleep Tight, Snow White" by Saoirse Down.
Congratulations to Saoirse and she will receive her prize of a Kindle shortly.
Commiserations to all the young writers who submitted their plays, but we would encourage you all to keep writing. Writers are the lifeblood of theatre and there is a lot of quality in your work.

More good news for Arclight - this time for the adult company. We are delighted that our forthcoming production of ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ has been invited to be performed in Stratford upon Avon by the Royal Shakespeare Company. We will appear at the Dell Festival on June 16th, after our run in Smock Alley. How exciting!!
